Why Lease the Audi Q5?

The Q5 is the Audi that sells in the greatest numbers for a reason: it is the right size for Britain, it does nothing badly, and it holds its value. This is the third generation, which arrived with UK orders opening in late 2024, so it is a genuinely current car rather than a long serving one.

One thing worth knowing up front, because it is a UK specific advantage: quattro all wheel drive is standard across the UK Q5 range. In some European markets the entry petrol is front wheel drive with quattro as an option. Here you get it either way.

Engines and the 48 Volt System

  • 2.0 TFSI petrol, 204PS and 340Nm, seven speed S tronic. The straightforward choice for moderate mileage.
  • 2.0 TDI diesel, 204PS and 400Nm, seven speed S tronic. Same power, considerably more pull, and the one to have for high mileage or towing.
  • Q5 e-hybrid, a plug-in hybrid producing 299hp combined from a 25.9kWh battery, with up to 61 miles of electric range.
  • SQ5, a 3.0 litre V6 TFSI petrol with 367PS and 550Nm. The fast one, and one of the few remaining six cylinder petrols in this class.

The petrol, diesel and SQ5 all use Audi's MHEV plus system, a 48 volt setup with its own 1.7kWh battery that adds up to 230Nm and 24PS of assistance and recovers up to 25kW under braking. It is more substantial than most mild hybrid systems and you notice it pulling away and in traffic, where the engine can stay off more of the time.

Two things worth checking on the e-hybrid before you settle on it. Its boot is 438 litres against the standard SUV's 520, because the battery has to live somewhere. And the electric range depends noticeably on the specification you choose, since wheels and equipment both affect it, so get the figure for the exact version you are quoted rather than the headline. If you can charge at home, neither point usually outweighs what the e-hybrid saves a company car driver, and rates change each tax year so take the current figures from your accountant.

SUV or Sportback?

Q5 SUV

The conventional shape, and the more practical of the two. 520 litres of boot rising to 1,473 litres with the rear seats folded.

Q5 Sportback

The sloping roofline version, at 515 litres and 1,415 folded. Five litres behind the seats is nothing; the 58 litre difference with them down is where the roofline shows.

SQ5 Sportback

470 litres and 1,388 folded. The SQ5 is offered in both shapes, so the fast version does not force you into one body.

The honest summary is that the Sportback costs you very little day to day, so if you prefer how it looks, take it. The SUV is the one to choose if you regularly load the car to the roof or carry awkward shapes.

Choosing Your Trim

Four levels: Sport, S line, Black Edition and Vorsprung. The 2026 model year brought the last two in, replacing the Edition 1 versions the car launched with, so if you are comparing against an older review the names will not match.

Sport is the well equipped starting point, S line adds the sporting appearance treatment, Black Edition takes the darker exterior further and Vorsprung is the fully loaded specification. The same update also brought back physical controls on the steering wheel, which is a small thing that matters every single time you drive. Equipment moves between model years, so tell us what you need on the car and we will check it against the specification you are quoted.

Audi Q5 Leasing FAQs

In the UK, yes. Every Q5 sold here has quattro all wheel drive. That is worth knowing because in some European markets the entry level petrol is front wheel drive with quattro as an option.

A 2.0 TFSI petrol with 204PS, a 2.0 TDI diesel with 204PS and 400Nm, a Q5 e-hybrid plug-in hybrid with 299hp combined, and the SQ5 with a 3.0 litre V6 TFSI petrol producing 367PS. All use a seven speed S tronic automatic.

It is Audi's 48 volt mild hybrid system, with its own 1.7kWh battery, adding up to 230Nm and 24PS of assistance and recovering up to 25kW under braking. It is fitted to the petrol, diesel and SQ5, and it is more substantial than most mild hybrid systems.

Up to 61 miles from its 25.9kWh battery. The exact figure depends on the specification, since wheels and equipment both affect it, so ask for the number on the version you are being quoted rather than relying on the headline.

The Sportback has the sloping coupe style roofline. Behind the rear seats the difference is tiny, 515 litres against 520, but with the seats folded the SUV offers 1,473 litres against the Sportback's 1,415. If you prefer the look, the Sportback costs you very little.

The Q5 is the petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid SUV. The Q6 e-tron is a separate, fully electric Audi SUV with its own page. They were updated in the same announcement, which is why news stories often cover them together, but they are different cars.

Sport, S line, Black Edition and Vorsprung. Black Edition and Vorsprung arrived with the 2026 model year, replacing the Edition 1 versions the car launched with, so older reviews will name different trims.

LetsLease is a credit broker rather than the lender. We arrange the agreement and place it with a funder such as Lex Autolease, Novuna, Ayvens or Santander, and that funder owns the vehicle and holds the agreement with you. Because we work across several funders rather than one, we can compare how each prices the same car.
