Why Lease the BMW iX2?

The iX2 is the fully electric version of BMW's smaller coupe-SUV, and it is the sensible one of the pair to look at if you can charge. An efficiency update in early 2026 took the range up to 320 miles on the WLTP test, which puts it comfortably past the point where charging becomes a weekly chore rather than a daily one.

It is also properly practical for the size. The boot is 525 litres, rising to 1,400 litres with the rear seats folded, in a car just 4,554mm long. That is a good deal of space for something that parks like a hatchback.

eDrive20 or xDrive30?

Two versions, on a battery of around 65kWh in both cases. The difference is motors, and it is bigger than the names suggest.

iX2 eDrive20

150kW, or 204hp, and 250Nm from a single motor. 0 to 62mph in 8.6 seconds and up to 320 miles of range. The efficient one, and the longer legged of the two.

iX2 xDrive30

230kW, or 313hp, and 494Nm from two motors with all wheel drive. 0 to 62mph in 5.6 seconds, with up to 297 miles of range.

Worth checking this before you order, because it surprises almost everyone and no review leads with it: the eDrive20 is front wheel drive. Its single motor sits at the front, not the back. BMW built its reputation on rear wheel drive, so a lot of people assume any BMW is either rear driven or xDrive, and the entry iX2 is neither. In practice it makes very little difference to how the car feels in normal use, and it is part of why the eDrive20 goes furthest on a charge. But if rear or all wheel drive is specifically what you are buying a BMW for, the xDrive30 is the one you want.

Charging and Running Costs

On a DC rapid charger the iX2 takes up to 130kW, which gets it from 10 to 80 per cent in about 29 minutes. At home it will take 11kW, or 22kW if your supply allows it, so an overnight charge is straightforward.

For a company car driver a fully electric car sits in the lowest benefit in kind bands, which is the main reason the iX2 makes more sense than the petrol X2 for a lot of people. Bands change each tax year, so take the current figures from your accountant rather than from us.

Choosing Your Trim

Sport

The starting point, offered on the eDrive20. Worth noting it also posts a slightly lower range figure than M Sport in BMW's own data, which comes down to wheels.

M Sport

The volume choice, with the sporting exterior and interior treatment. This is the version that carries the headline 320 mile figure.

Shadow Edition

Sits above M Sport, adding red M Sport brake callipers, Shadow Line adaptive LED headlights and the M Sport Pro styling. Offered on both motor options.

Equipment moves between model years, so tell us what you want on the car and we will check it against the specification you are quoted rather than going by the trim name. Our leasing guides cover term and mileage, and business leasing explains the company position.

BMW iX2 Leasing FAQs

Up to 320 miles on the WLTP test for the eDrive20 and up to 297 miles for the xDrive30, from a battery of around 65kWh. An efficiency update in early 2026 improved both. As with any electric car, expect less than the official figure in cold weather and at motorway speeds.

The eDrive20 is, which catches a lot of people out. Its single motor is mounted at the front. The xDrive30 has two motors and all wheel drive. If rear or all wheel drive matters to you, the xDrive30 is the version to take.

Motors rather than battery. The eDrive20 has one front motor producing 204hp and goes furthest on a charge. The xDrive30 has two motors, 313hp and all wheel drive, reaching 62mph in 5.6 seconds against 8.6 for the eDrive20.

Up to 130kW on a DC rapid charger, taking it from 10 to 80 per cent in around 29 minutes. At home it accepts 11kW, or 22kW if your supply supports it.

The iX2 is fully electric and the X2 is the petrol and diesel version. They look very similar and share the same body, but they are sold as separate models with their own pages, and their figures are different.

525 litres with the rear seats up, rising to 1,400 litres with them folded. That is a lot of space in a car only 4,554mm long, and better than the coupe-style roofline suggests.

Sport, M Sport and Shadow Edition. Shadow Edition sits above M Sport and adds red M Sport brake callipers, Shadow Line adaptive LED headlights and the M Sport Pro styling, and it is offered with either motor.

LetsLease is a credit broker rather than the lender. We arrange the agreement and place it with a funder such as Lex Autolease, Novuna, Ayvens or Santander, and that funder owns the vehicle and holds the agreement with you. Because we work across several funders rather than one, we can compare how each prices the same car.
