Why Lease the Mercedes B-Class?

The B-Class is the sensible one, and it has never pretended otherwise. It takes the A-Class and makes it taller, which buys you a higher seating position, easier access and a bigger boot at 420 litres, rising to as much as 1,505 litres with the rear seats folded.

If you want a small Mercedes that is actually easy to live with, rather than one that looks good on a driveway, this is the one. It is the choice people make when getting in and out matters more than the roofline, which includes a great many people who would not describe themselves as needing an MPV.

Where the B-Class Stands

Worth being honest about this before anything else, because it is the thing nobody tells you. Mercedes has confirmed there will be no next generation B-Class, and its stated plan is to phase this one out during 2026, as part of cutting its compact range from seven models down to four. Unlike the A-Class, which was given a reprieve and extended to at least 2028, the B-Class has not been.

There is also no electrified version beyond the mild hybrid petrol. No plug-in hybrid, no electric B-Class. So this is a petrol and diesel car reaching the end of its life, and we would rather say that plainly than let you work it out later.

Now the part that matters if you are leasing rather than buying. The usual worry about a car at the end of its run is what it will be worth afterwards, and on contract hire that is not your concern: the residual value sits with the funder and you simply hand the car back. Meanwhile the B-Class is exactly as good at its job as it ever was, and there is no longer anything else quite like it from Mercedes. If the shape suits you, the timing is not a reason to avoid it.

Engines and Trims

Two engines, both automatic.

  • B 200, a 1.3 litre petrol with 48 volt mild hybrid assistance, giving 163hp plus 14hp of electrical help and 270Nm, through the 7G-DCT automatic. The volume choice and the smoother of the two around town.
  • B 200 d, a 2.0 litre diesel at around 150bhp with an eight speed dual clutch. The one for high mileage, and it also has the larger boot of the two, since the petrol loses about 25 litres to its mild hybrid battery.

Sport Executive

The starting point, and the quieter looking of the two styles. Well equipped rather than basic.

AMG Line Executive

Adds the sporting body styling and larger wheels. An appearance change rather than a mechanical one.

AMG Line Premium and Premium Plus

The two equipment steps above it, bundling in the options most buyers would otherwise add individually.

Worth knowing the B-Class is a five seater, not a seven seater, despite the people carrier shape. If you need a third row from Mercedes, the GLB is the one to price. Equipment moves between model years, so tell us what you want and we will check the specification you are quoted.

Leasing a Mercedes B-Class

Set the mileage honestly, because excess mileage at the end of a contract costs more than buying the miles at the start, and a family car tends to cover more than its owner estimates.

Our leasing guides cover setting term and mileage, car leasing for families is the relevant guide if this is the family car, and business leasing explains the position if it is going through a company.

Mercedes B-Class Leasing FAQs

Mercedes has confirmed there will be no next generation, and its stated plan is to phase this one out during 2026 as part of reducing its compact range. Unlike the A-Class, which was extended to at least 2028, the B-Class has not been given a reprieve. On a lease the residual value risk sits with the funder rather than with you.

Two. The B 200 is a 1.3 litre petrol with 48 volt mild hybrid assistance, giving 163hp plus 14hp of electrical help, through the 7G-DCT automatic. The B 200 d is a 2.0 litre diesel at around 150bhp with an eight speed dual clutch.

There is a mild hybrid petrol, but no plug-in hybrid and no fully electric version. If you want an electric Mercedes of this size, look at the EQA, the EQB or the electric CLA instead.

420 litres on the petrol and up to 445 on the diesel, since the petrol's mild hybrid battery takes about 25 litres. With the rear seats folded it goes up to as much as 1,505 litres.

No, it is a five seater despite the people carrier shape. If you need a third row from Mercedes, the GLB is the model to look at.

The B-Class is the taller version of broadly the same car. You get a higher seating position, easier access and a bigger boot, and you give up the lower, sleeker look of the A-Class hatchback.

Sport Executive, AMG Line Executive, AMG Line Premium and AMG Line Premium Plus. The AMG Line versions add sporting body styling and larger wheels rather than any mechanical change.

LetsLease is a credit broker rather than the lender. We arrange the agreement and place it with a funder such as Lex Autolease, Novuna, Ayvens or Santander, and that funder owns the vehicle and holds the agreement with you. Because we work across several funders rather than one, we can compare how each prices the same car.
