Seven Seats, Including on the Electric One

This is the reason to look at a 5008 and it is worth putting first. Every version has seven seats as standard, and that includes all three fully electric e-5008 versions. Most seven seaters make you choose between the third row and the electric powertrain, because the battery normally goes where the rearmost seats would sit. Peugeot designed this car on an electric first platform, so you do not have to choose.

The third generation arrived in UK showrooms in autumn 2024 on Stellantis' STLA Medium platform, stretched to a 2.90 metre wheelbase. It is a different car from the 5008 you may remember: the previous generation, sold from 2017 to 2024, had BlueHDi diesels and a PureTech petrol, and none of that carries over. Row two is a 60/40 split bench that slides to free up legroom behind, and row three is a bench with two independent backrests.

The Peugeot 5008 Range

Electric 73kWh 325 Dual MotorFully electric, all wheel drivearound 291 miles0g/km1,000kg

There is no diesel and no plain petrol 5008. Every version is electrified, and as always with Peugeot the badge matters more than the word: the Hybrid 145 is a 48 volt mild hybrid with nothing to plug in, while the Plug-in Hybrid 225 is the one you charge.

On towing, the plug-in hybrid is the best of the range at 1,300kg and all three electric versions manage 1,000kg. The mild hybrid is the lowest of the five, which catches people out because it is the cheapest version and the one you would expect to be the most practical. Peugeot does not publish a towing figure for it on its own UK site and the figure in circulation traces back to a single data feed, so if you intend to tow with a mild hybrid, ask us and we will have it confirmed for the exact derivative first.

Boot Space With Seven People Aboard

Be careful with the numbers you will see quoted here, because they are not all measuring the same thing and Peugeot's own website contradicts itself on the same page.

The honest figure is 348 litres with all seven seats in use. Fold the third row away and you have 916 litres, and with only the front two seats in place it opens up to 2,232 litres. You will find 916 litres widely described as the seven seat figure, including in one section of peugeot.co.uk while its own FAQ on the same page gives 348. The 916 figure is the five seat mode.

348 litres with seven aboard is competitive for the class and it is enough for a few soft bags or a weekly shop, but it is not a boot you can load a holiday's luggage into with the third row up. That is true of almost every seven seater at this size, and it is the reason the sliding middle bench matters: you can trade a little legroom for a little boot depending on who is in the car.

Which e-5008 Should You Lease?

Three electric versions and two batteries. The Electric 210 uses a 73kWh pack for around 309 miles. The Long Range steps up to a 97kWh pack and over 400 miles, which is the one most people are actually looking at. The Dual Motor 325 goes back to the 73kWh battery and adds a second motor on the rear axle for all wheel drive, which costs efficiency and brings it down to around 291 miles.

Our electric car leasing pages show the class side by side. Our pick is the Long Range. Over 400 miles in a seven seat SUV takes range out of the conversation entirely, which is the whole point of a car like this, and the only thing it gives up against the Dual Motor is acceleration and traction most buyers will not use. Take the Dual Motor only if you specifically want all wheel drive.

One honest note on the Long Range figure. Peugeot quotes several different numbers for it, including two on the same page, which is why we are saying "over 400 miles" rather than picking one. We will give you the certified figure for the exact derivative on the quote. Separately, the e-5008 does not qualify for the Electric Car Grant, because every version sits above the grant's price cap. The 28 May 2026 price realignment did bring every e-5008 below the threshold at which the expensive car supplement applies, which is worth knowing when you compare it with rivals.

The Plug-in Hybrid and Company Car Tax

The 5008 Plug-in Hybrid is quoted at 62 to 78g/km depending on specification, with 48 miles of electric range from a 17.8kWh usable battery. Unlike some rivals, that figure has not jumped recently: this generation came to market after the Euro 6e-bis emissions standard took effect, so it was homologated with the newer, more realistic measurement from the start.

Our plug-in hybrid leasing guide covers how these work day to day. That matters if you are comparing it with a plug-in hybrid registered before 2025, because you are comparing two different measurement regimes rather than two different cars. It also matters for Benefit in Kind. The Autumn Budget 2025 confirmed a measure treating an eligible plug-in hybrid as 1g/km, applied back to 1 January 2025 and running to 5 April 2028, with transitional arrangements extending further for some cars, and one of its conditions is a quoted CO2 figure of 51g/km or more. At 62 to 78g/km the 5008 Plug-in Hybrid clears that threshold. There are further conditions covering the registration date, the emissions standard the car is registered under and its electric range. Benefit in Kind rates are set per tax year and change on a published schedule, and we are a credit broker rather than a tax adviser, so ask us for the CO2 on the exact derivative and let your accountant confirm the position. Our business leasing guides cover the groundwork.

How Safe Is the Peugeot 5008?

Four stars from Euro NCAP, published in May 2025, with 80 per cent for adult occupant protection, 85 per cent for child occupant protection, 79 per cent for vulnerable road users and 62 per cent for safety assistance. Euro NCAP ratings run for six years, so this one stands until around 2031.

Worth knowing how that rating was arrived at. Euro NCAP did not crash a 5008. It tested a Peugeot e-3008 with the 73kWh battery and applied the result to the 5008 as a partner model, on the basis that the two cars are practically identical in structure, running additional tests where needed. Euro NCAP states the rating applies to all 5008s.

The better news, and this is unusual, is that the variants table on that rating actually covers the powertrains on sale. All five are listed, which is more than can be said for a number of rivals whose ratings were earned on engines since withdrawn. One wrinkle: the plug-in hybrid appears under its old "195" name rather than the current 225, for the reason explained below. The weakest element of the result is the 62 per cent for safety assistance, which is worth knowing even though 85 per cent for child occupant protection is a strong score for a family car.

Leasing a Peugeot 5008

Two numbers drive most of your monthly cost: the initial rental and your annual mileage. A larger initial rental brings the monthly figure down, and the mileage you choose sets the contract. Excess mileage is charged at the end of the agreement, so give us the honest number rather than the optimistic one.

Peugeot covers the car for three years, with unlimited mileage in the first two and a mileage cap in the third, and the traction battery on the plug-in hybrid and electric versions is covered for eight years or 100,000 miles.

On trims, Peugeot has been moving its range around through 2026 and the published names do not currently agree with each other, with Allure and GT appearing both plainly and with a Plus suffix depending on where you look. Rather than print a list that may be wrong, tell us what equipment matters to you and we will confirm the exact trim and specification on the quote.

Three tells for reading listings. Any 5008 showing a BlueHDi diesel or a PureTech 130 is the previous generation, as is any car measuring well under 4,791mm. A Hybrid 136 or a Plug-in Hybrid 195 is a superseded derivative within this generation. And a Plug-in Hybrid 195 and a Plug-in Hybrid 225 may be the same car: Peugeot renamed its plug-in hybrids in April 2026 to quote combined engine and motor output under a new European protocol, with no mechanical change at all. Peugeot's own plug-in hybrid model page still shows the old name, so even the manufacturer's site is behind on this. Send anything that looks inconsistent over to us.

Peugeot 5008 Leasing FAQs

Yes, and so does every other version. Seven seats are standard across the whole 5008 range, including all three fully electric e-5008 versions and the plug-in hybrid. That is unusual, because most seven seaters lose the third row when a battery is fitted. Peugeot designed this generation on an electric first platform, so the battery does not take the seats.

348 litres. Fold the third row away and it becomes 916 litres, and with only the front two seats in place it opens up to 2,232 litres. Be careful with figures you see elsewhere, because 916 litres is widely quoted as the seven seat figure, including in one section of Peugeot's own website while its FAQ on the same page gives 348. The 916 is five seat mode.

Over 400 miles from the 97kWh Long Range version, around 309 miles from the 73kWh Electric 210, and around 291 miles from the all wheel drive Dual Motor 325, which gives up efficiency to its second motor. We are saying over 400 rather than quoting one figure for the Long Range because Peugeot publishes several different numbers for it, including two on the same page. We will confirm the certified figure for your exact derivative.

Not in the current generation. The range is a 48 volt mild hybrid, a plug-in hybrid and three fully electric versions. The BlueHDi diesel and PureTech petrol belonged to the previous 5008, sold from 2017 to 2024. If a listing shows either engine, it is the older car.

The plug-in hybrid is the best of the range at 1,300kg braked and all three electric versions manage 1,000kg. The mild hybrid is the lowest of the five, which surprises people because it is the cheapest version. Peugeot does not publish a figure for it on its own UK site and the number in circulation traces to a single data feed, so ask us to have it confirmed for the exact derivative before you order. Always check the vehicle's own plated weights.

48 miles on the combined WLTP cycle from a 17.8kWh usable battery. You will see 55 miles quoted, including by Peugeot, but that is the figure from one of the two test conditions rather than the combined number, and Peugeot's own FAQ gives 48 on the same page as the 55.

Its CO2 of 62 to 78g/km clears the 51g/km threshold that is one of the conditions of the Benefit in Kind measure confirmed in the Autumn Budget 2025, which treats an eligible plug-in hybrid as 1g/km. There are further conditions on registration date, emissions standard and electric range. Rates are set per tax year and we are a credit broker rather than a tax adviser, so have your accountant confirm your own position and ask us for the CO2 on the exact derivative.

Four stars from Euro NCAP, published in May 2025, with 80 per cent for adult occupant protection, 85 per cent for child, 79 per cent for vulnerable road users and 62 per cent for safety assistance. The rating runs to around 2031. Euro NCAP tested a Peugeot e-3008 and applied the result to the 5008 as a partner model rather than crashing a 5008 itself, but unlike many rivals its variants table does cover all the powertrains currently on sale.

No. Every version of the e-5008 sits above the grant's price cap, so none of them qualifies. The smaller e-3008 and the E-408 do qualify, both in Band 2. One piece of better news on the e-5008: the May 2026 price realignment brought every version below the threshold at which the expensive car supplement applies.

The 97kWh Long Range, for most people. Over 400 miles in a seven seat SUV takes range out of the decision entirely, which is the point of a car like this, and the only thing it gives up against the all wheel drive Dual Motor is acceleration and traction most buyers will never use. Choose the Dual Motor only if you specifically need all wheel drive.

Because Peugeot renamed its plug-in hybrids on 20 April 2026 to quote combined engine and motor output under a new European protocol. There was no mechanical change at all. The 5008 and 3008 went from 195 to 225 on paper, and the 408 went from 225 to 240 the same way. Peugeot's own plug-in hybrid page still shows the old name, so even the manufacturer's site has not caught up.

LetsLease is a credit broker rather than the lender. We arrange the agreement and place it with a funder such as Lex Autolease, Novuna, Ayvens or Santander, and that funder owns the vehicle and holds the agreement with you. Because we work across several funders rather than one, we can compare how each of them prices the same car.
