Why Lease the Tesla Model 3?

The Model 3 is the car that made electric cars ordinary, and it is still the one most of its rivals are measured against. The headline reason is range: the Premium Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive manages 466 miles on the WLTP test, which is among the longest of any electric car on sale at any price.

The other reason is the Supercharger network, which remains the most dependable rapid charging in the country and is the part of owning a Tesla that is hardest for other brands to match. The boot is 594 litres with another 88 litres under the bonnet, so around 682 litres in total, which is a great deal for a car this shape.

The Four Versions

Entry single motor

332 miles of WLTP range, rear wheel drive, 0 to 62mph in 6.2 seconds and a 110mph top speed. Charges at up to 175kW. Tesla has used more than one name for this version, so see the note below.

Premium Long Range RWD

466 miles of WLTP range and 0 to 62mph in 5.2 seconds. Still rear wheel drive. For most people this is the one, because it goes furthest of the four.

Premium Long Range AWD

410 miles and 0 to 60mph in 4.2 seconds, with a second motor for all wheel drive. Charges at up to 250kW. The sensible choice if you want traction in winter.

Performance

354 miles and 0 to 60mph in 2.9 seconds, with a 163mph top speed. Genuinely very fast, and it costs you roughly 112 miles against the Long Range RWD.

All the acceleration figures above are Tesla's own claims. Note that the all wheel drive version is not the long range one: if range is what you care about, the rear wheel drive Long Range is the car.

Two Things Tesla Does Differently

Worth being honest about both of these, because they make a Model 3 harder to compare than any other car and they are where a broker actually earns their keep.

Tesla does not publish battery capacities. Every other manufacturer tells you how many kWh you are getting. Tesla does not, and the third party estimates floating around disagree with each other by more than 20kWh. So we are not going to quote you one. Judge the versions on their official range figures instead, which is the number that actually affects your week.

Tesla changes its range more often than anyone else. Names, specifications and figures move several times a year, which no other manufacturer does. The entry car is a good example: it arrived in the UK in January 2026 called Standard and was then renamed within about a month. That means the exact version written on your quote matters more here than on any other car, and comparing two quotes from different weeks can mean comparing two different cars. Ask us to confirm precisely which version and which figures apply to the agreement in front of you, and we will check rather than assume.

Leasing a Tesla Model 3

Leasing suits a Tesla particularly well, for a reason specific to the brand. Tesla adjusts its prices and its range more often than any other manufacturer, which makes resale values harder to predict than usual. On contract hire that uncertainty is the funder's problem rather than yours: you agree a fixed monthly figure and hand the car back.

For a company car driver a fully electric car sits in the lowest benefit in kind bands, which is why so many Model 3s go out on business agreements. Bands change each tax year, so take the current figures from your accountant. Our leasing guides cover term and mileage, and business leasing explains the company position.

Tesla Model 3 Leasing FAQs

It depends on the version. The Premium Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive manages 466 miles on the WLTP test, the Premium Long Range All-Wheel Drive 410 miles, the Performance 354 miles and the entry single motor car 332 miles. Expect less than the official figure in cold weather and at motorway speeds.

The Premium Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive, at 466 miles. Worth knowing that the all wheel drive version is not the longest range one, which catches people out: adding the second motor brings it down to 410 miles.

Tesla does not publish battery capacities, unlike every other manufacturer. The third party estimates in circulation disagree with each other by more than 20kWh, so we will not quote you one. Compare the versions on their official range figures instead.

The entry version takes up to 175kW on a DC rapid charger and the Premium Long Range All-Wheel Drive up to 250kW. In practice the bigger advantage is the Supercharger network itself, which remains the most reliable rapid charging in the UK.

0 to 60mph in 2.9 seconds on Tesla's own figures, with a 163mph top speed. The trade off is range: 354 miles against the 466 of the Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive.

594 litres at the back plus 88 litres under the bonnet, so about 682 litres in total. The front compartment is the natural place for charging cables, which keeps them out of the main boot.

Because Tesla updates its range far more often than other manufacturers, including renaming versions. The entry car launched in the UK in January 2026 under one name and was renamed within about a month. It means the exact version on your quote matters more than usual, so ask us to confirm which one you are being priced on.

LetsLease is a credit broker rather than the lender. We arrange the agreement and place it with a funder such as Lex Autolease, Novuna, Ayvens or Santander, and that funder owns the vehicle and holds the agreement with you. Because we work across several funders rather than one, we can compare how each prices the same car.
