Why Lease a Toyota Proace Verso?

If you need to move eight or nine people and you want to do it with no tailpipe emissions, the list of cars that can do it is very short. The Proace Verso is on it. It is a proper van based people carrier with sliding side doors, a flat floor and a cabin you can walk through, and since 2024 it has been sold in the UK as a battery electric vehicle only. No diesel, no petrol, no hybrid.

Toyota calls it the Proace Verso Electric, and you will also see it badged Proace Verso EV on price lists. Same car. If eight or nine seats is more than you need, the smaller Proace City Verso seats up to seven in a body a third of a metre shorter.

The Powertrain

One powertrain across the range: a 100kW motor making 136 DIN hp and 260Nm, on a 75kWh battery, with Toyota quoting up to 213 miles on the official test. Every current grade gets the 75kWh pack, so you are not choosing between battery sizes.

On a rapid charger it takes up to 100kW, which Toyota says gives 10 to 80 per cent in around 45 minutes. Be realistic about range: 213 miles is the official figure for an empty vehicle, and a two tonne van shape carrying nine people and their luggage in February will be a long way under it. For school runs, airport runs, club transport and shuttle work it is comfortably enough. For regular long distance touring with a full load, plan your stops.

Seats and Lengths, and This Is the Bit to Read Twice

Two body lengths, Medium at 4,981mm and Long at 5,331mm, and four grades. But the seat count is tied to a specific combination of the two rather than being a free choice, and it does not run in the order you would expect:

  • Icon Long is the only nine seater. If nine seats is why you are here, that is the one derivative that does it.
  • Icon Medium, Design Medium and Design Premium Long are eight seaters.
  • Excel Long is a seven seater, despite being the top grade. More equipment, fewer seats. If seven is your number, the smaller Proace City Verso also does it and is easier to park.

On luggage, Toyota publishes two figures for each length because it measures to the tonneau cover and again to the roof, with the rear seats in place: the Medium gives 550 litres to the cover and 700 to the roof, the Long gives 980 and 1,300. Those are not seats up versus seats down figures, which is a mistake that is easy to make when you see them written as a range. Toyota does not publish a seats folded figure.

Warranty, and One Thing You Should Know

The vehicle comes with 3 years or 60,000 miles as standard, plus a year of roadside assistance. Toyota's Service Activated Warranty then adds a further 12 months or 10,000 miles each time the car has an eligible service at an authorised Toyota dealer, up to a maximum of 10 years or 100,000 miles.

It is worth being honest about the battery, because this is the one thing that would not occur to you to check. Toyota's Battery Care programme is the headline battery guarantee it advertises on its electric cars, promising 70 per cent of original capacity for many years. Its terms state plainly that "Toyota Proace vehicles are not eligible for Toyota Battery Care Warranty". So this vehicle does not get it, even though it is fully electric, and you will find plenty of comparison sites that repeat the Battery Care claim across Toyota's whole electric range regardless. On a lease that matters far less than it would to an owner, because you hand the car back well before degradation becomes your problem, but you should know it rather than assume. Ask us and we will confirm exactly what battery cover the derivative you are quoted carries. If you want a Toyota that does get the full Battery Care guarantee, the bZ4X and the rest of the Toyota range are worth comparing.

Toyota Proace Verso Leasing FAQs

Seven, eight or nine, depending on the grade and body length. Nine seats come on one derivative only, the Icon in Long body. Icon Medium, Design Medium and Design Premium Long are eight seaters, and the top Excel Long is a seven seater.

Yes. Since 2024 Toyota has sold the Proace Verso in the UK as a battery electric vehicle only. There is no diesel, petrol or hybrid version. If you see one reviewed with a manual gearbox and a 2.0 litre diesel, that is the previous car.

Toyota quotes up to 213 miles on the official test, from a 75kWh battery fitted to every grade. Be realistic about that figure with a full load of passengers in winter, when a van shaped vehicle will fall some way short of it.

Up to 100kW on a DC rapid charger, which Toyota says takes it from 10 to 80 per cent in around 45 minutes. Overnight AC charging at home or a depot is the sensible pattern for a vehicle like this.

350mm of length. Medium is 4,981mm and Long is 5,331mm, and the extra goes into luggage space behind the rearmost seats. Toyota quotes 550 litres to the tonneau cover for the Medium against 980 litres for the Long, with the rear seats in place.

Icon, Design, Design Premium and Excel. If you see a "Shuttle" grade quoted, that was the 2024 launch grade and is no longer offered.

No. Toyota's Battery Care terms state that Proace vehicles are not eligible, even though this one is fully electric. The vehicle warranty is 3 years or 60,000 miles, extendable to a maximum of 10 years or 100,000 miles through Toyota dealer servicing. Ask us and we will confirm the exact battery cover on the derivative you are quoted.

LetsLease is a credit broker rather than the lender. We arrange the agreement and place it with a funder such as Lex Autolease, Novuna, Ayvens or Santander, and that funder owns the vehicle and holds the agreement with you. Because we work across several funders rather than one, we can compare how each prices the same vehicle.
