Why Lease the Toyota RAV4?

The Toyota RAV4 is one of the most trusted family SUVs on the road, known for space, comfort and Toyota's reputation for dependability. The all-new version brings sharper styling, a bigger touchscreen and updated technology.

In the UK the new RAV4 is a plug-in hybrid only. It can cover up to 62 miles on electric power before running as a self-charging hybrid, so you get electric driving for the daily commute and no range anxiety on longer journeys.

If the RAV4 is larger than you need, the Toyota C-HR is the style led compact SUV, and the Toyota Corolla covers hatchback and estate needs. For a fully electric Toyota, look at the bZ4X.

Toyota RAV4 Engines and Running Costs

Every new RAV4 uses a 2.0-litre petrol engine with electric motors to form a plug-in hybrid, with up to 304 hp and the choice of front or all-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is standard on the sporty GR Sport and optional on Design.

Charge it at home and you can do most short journeys on electricity, which keeps running costs and company car tax low. On longer trips it runs as an efficient hybrid, so you never have to plan around charging. Like other Toyota hybrids, the automatic gearbox can sound strained under hard acceleration.

Toyota RAV4 Trim Levels

Icon

The entry grade, with 18-inch alloys, heated front seats, an electric tailgate and a 12.9-inch touchscreen.

Design

Adds 20-inch alloys, a two-tone paint option, heated and ventilated front seats and wireless charging.

Excel

The comfort focused grade, with leather upholstery, a head-up display and a JBL sound system.

GR Sport

Developed with Toyota's Gazoo Racing team, with retuned steering, firmer suspension and standard all-wheel drive.

For most families the Design grade is the sweet spot, adding desirable comfort kit and the option of all-wheel drive. Icon keeps the monthly lowest, Excel is the most luxurious, and GR Sport is the sportiest to drive.

Leasing the Toyota RAV4

Two choices shape your monthly cost: the initial rental, paid upfront as a number of monthly payments, and the annual mileage. A larger initial rental lowers the monthly figure, while setting a realistic mileage avoids excess charges at the end of the contract.

Be aware of a couple of things. As a plug-in hybrid only, the new RAV4 starts from a higher monthly than the old self-charging hybrid did, and you only see the low running costs if you can charge regularly. The ride is firm on the biggest wheels, and the gearbox can drone when you push it hard.
