Compare live Volkswagen Caddy lease deals below from an independent, whole of market broker. The Caddy Life is the five to seven seat people carrier, updated for 2027, in petrol or diesel with the DSG automatic. See the longer Caddy Maxi, the Caddy California camper, or the Caddy Cargo van.
The passenger Caddy, which Volkswagen sells as the Caddy Life, is the sensible answer to a problem a lot of families have: you need seven seats, or a boot the size of a small room, but you do not want to drive something the size of a bus to get them. It is 4,500mm long in standard form, which is shorter than many ordinary family SUVs, and yet the boot behind five people runs to 1,213 litres.
It is also newly updated. The Caddy was facelifted this year and UK order books for the 2027 model year opened at the start of October 2026, so this is the current car rather than a run-out version.
Two engines, and one gearbox.
Two things worth checking before you get your heart set on a specification. The passenger Caddy is automatic only: every version in the current range uses the seven speed DSG, so if you wanted a manual, that is not offered on this model. And the eHybrid plug-in hybrid is a Caddy Cargo option, not a passenger car one, so if a plug-in is what you are after, it is the Caddy Cargo van version that offers it. On a family vehicle most people want the automatic anyway, and in stop-start traffic with a full car it is the better gearbox, so neither point is much of a loss in practice.
The Caddy takes five to seven seats on either body length, and the way it does it is unusually flexible. The second row is a three seat bench that folds, tumbles forward and comes out altogether. Behind it you can have two individual third row seats, or leave them out, or take the preparation so they can be added later.
4,500mm long on a 2,755mm wheelbase, and 1,818mm tall so it clears most height barriers. 1,213 litres of boot behind five seats.
4,853mm long on a 2,970mm wheelbase. The Maxi adds 353mm, most of which goes behind the rear seats. Worth pricing if you use the third row regularly.
Sliding rear doors rather than hinged ones, which is the quiet advantage of a vehicle like this in a tight car park or when loading children.
If you intend to use all seven seats regularly, the Maxi is the version to look at, since the standard body gives up most of its boot once the third row is up. Tell us how many of you there are and how often, and we will price the right one rather than the one that sounds right.
Worth knowing that the passenger Caddy is leased as a car, so quotes include VAT, where the Caddy Cargo van is quoted excluding it. That difference catches people out when they compare the two, and it is the most common reason a van quote looks cheaper than it really is for a private driver.
Set the mileage honestly, because a family vehicle usually covers more than its owner estimates and excess mileage costs more at the end than buying it up front. Our leasing guides cover term and mileage, car leasing for families is the relevant guide here, and business leasing explains the company position.

Five to seven, on either body length. The second row is a three seat bench that folds, tumbles and is removable, and you can have two individual third row seats behind it, leave them out, or take the preparation to add them later.
The Caddy Life is the passenger version, with seats, windows and a finished interior, and it is leased as a car with VAT included in the quote. The Caddy Cargo is the panel van, quoted excluding VAT. They are the same vehicle underneath.
Two. A 1.5 TSI 116PS petrol and a 2.0 TDI 122PS diesel, both with the seven speed DSG automatic. Petrol suits lower mileage and local driving, diesel suits distance work with the vehicle loaded.
Not on the passenger version. Every Caddy Life in the current range uses the seven speed DSG automatic, which on a family vehicle in traffic is generally the gearbox you would want anyway.
There is a 1.5 eHybrid plug-in hybrid with up to 73 miles of electric range, but it is offered on the Caddy Cargo van rather than on the passenger Caddy Life. If a plug-in is what you need, it is the Cargo version to look at.
The Maxi is the longer body, 4,853mm against 4,500mm, on a longer wheelbase, and most of the extra length goes behind the rear seats. If you plan to use seven seats regularly, the Maxi is the one worth pricing.
1,213 litres on the standard wheelbase with five people on board, loaded to the height of the seat backs. That is a very large space for a vehicle only 4,500mm long. With the third row up, expect considerably less, which is why the Maxi suits regular seven seat use.
LetsLease is a credit broker rather than the lender. We arrange the agreement and place it with a funder such as Lex Autolease, Novuna, Ayvens or Santander, and that funder owns the vehicle and holds the agreement with you. Because we work across several funders rather than one, we can compare how each prices the same vehicle.
