Compare live Volkswagen Passat lease deals below from an independent, whole of market broker. The Passat is now an estate only, with a 690 litre boot and a plug-in hybrid that covers up to 83 miles on electricity. See the Tiguan, the electric ID.7, or the rest of the Volkswagen range.
Two things to know before anything else. The Passat is now sold in the UK as an estate only, so if you were expecting a saloon, that is no longer part of the range. And there is no diesel either, which for a car that built its reputation on long distance diesel work is a real change.
What is left is arguably better suited to how people actually use it. A 690 litre boot, 1,920 litres with the seats down, and a plug-in hybrid that covers most ordinary weeks without the engine starting. It also won the 2026 Tow Car Awards, which tells you something about how settled it is with weight behind it.
This is the whole decision, and the two options are genuinely different cars to live with.
The 1.5 eTSI is a 150PS petrol mild hybrid with a seven speed DSG. It never needs plugging in, the electrical assistance just makes it smoother and a little more efficient. This is the straightforward choice, and it is the one that keeps the full boot.
The eHybrid is the plug-in, with 204PS or 272PS and a six speed DSG. The 19.7kWh usable battery gives up to 83 miles of electric range on the 204PS and 77 miles on the 272PS, which is enough that a lot of owners go weeks between fuel stops. It will also take a DC charge at up to 40kW, so 5 to 80 per cent in about 26 minutes, which is unusual on a plug-in hybrid and makes it far more practical on a longer run.
The trade off is worth knowing before you commit, because it is the one thing that catches people out on an estate. The battery costs you boot space: 690 litres on the mild hybrid becomes 510 litres on the eHybrid. 510 litres is still a big boot by any normal standard, but if you chose a Passat estate specifically for the load bay, go and look at both before you decide. For a company car driver the eHybrid's tax position usually settles the argument anyway, and rates change each tax year, so take the current figures from your accountant.
The Passat is unusual in that the trim ladder depends on the powertrain rather than running across the whole range.
The starting point for the 1.5 eTSI. Well equipped for a car at this level, and the version that keeps the full 690 litre boot.
The sporting appearance treatment on the 1.5 eTSI, with the bumpers, wheels and interior detailing that go with it.
Introduced in 2025 as the value grade on the plug-in hybrid, bundling a large amount of equipment as standard. Pairs with the 204PS.
The top of the plug-in range and the only way to get the 272PS engine, with the darker exterior treatment.
All versions are front wheel drive. There is no 4MOTION Passat in the UK range, which is worth knowing if you were expecting all wheel drive on an estate this size. Equipment moves between model years, so tell us what you need on the car and we will check it against the specification you are quoted.
A large share of Passats go out as company cars, and the eHybrid is the reason. A plug-in hybrid with real electric range sits far lower on benefit in kind than a petrol, so for a driver who can charge at home the monthly cost of running one is often a fraction of the equivalent petrol estate.
If you cannot charge, be honest about it and take the mild hybrid instead. A plug-in that never gets plugged in carries its battery around for nothing. No. The current Passat is sold in the UK as an estate only. The saloon was dropped when this generation launched, so if you want a Volkswagen saloon of a similar size, the electric ID.7 Fastback is the closest thing in the range.
Not in the UK. TDI engines exist for the Passat in some other European markets, but the UK range is the 1.5 eTSI petrol mild hybrid and the eHybrid plug-in hybrid only.
Up to 83 miles on the 204PS version and 77 miles on the 272PS, from a 19.7kWh usable battery. It also takes a DC rapid charge at up to 40kW, so 5 to 80 per cent takes about 26 minutes, which is rare on a plug-in hybrid.
690 litres with the seats up on the mild hybrid, and 1,920 litres with them folded. The eHybrid is 510 litres because the battery takes up some of the space, so if the load bay is why you want the car, compare the two in person.
The eTSI is a mild hybrid, a 150PS petrol with electrical assistance that never needs plugging in. The eHybrid is a proper plug-in hybrid with a 19.7kWh battery that you charge, and which runs on electricity alone for most ordinary journeys.
The ladder depends on the engine. The 1.5 eTSI mild hybrid comes as Life or R-Line. The eHybrid plug-in comes as Match or Black Edition, and Black Edition is the only way to get the 272PS version.
No. Every UK Passat is front wheel drive. There is no 4MOTION version in this range, which is worth knowing if you had assumed otherwise on an estate this size.
LetsLease is a credit broker rather than the lender. We arrange the agreement and place it with a funder such as Lex Autolease, Novuna, Ayvens or Santander, and that funder owns the vehicle and holds the agreement with you. Because we work across several funders rather than one, we can compare how each prices the same car.
