Compare Polestar 4 lease deals below across coupe and SUV, where the SUV goes further, carries more and costs less. See the full Polestar range, or browse all electric car leasing options.
The Polestar 4 sits between the 2 and the 3, and it is the one people have heard about because it does not have a rear window. The rear screen is replaced by a roof-mounted camera feeding a display where the mirror would be.
It is a better car than that one talking point suggests. It is quick, extremely comfortable, and the rear seat is one of the roomiest in the class precisely because the roofline does not have to clear a back window.
The 4 is now offered in two body styles, and the comparison is less balanced than you would expect.
| Polestar 4 SUV | Polestar 4 Coupe | |
|---|---|---|
| Range | Longer | Shorter |
| Boot space | Larger | Smaller |
| Price position | Lower | Higher |
The SUV goes further, carries more and costs less than the coupe. Normally you pay for practicality. Here you are paid to take it. Unless you simply prefer how the coupe looks, the SUV is the one to lease.
That is a rare thing to be able to say about two versions of the same car, and it is the most useful fact on this page.
There is no rear window. A camera on the roof feeds a screen in place of the rear-view mirror.
In practice most people adapt within a week and some prefer it, because the view is wider and is not blocked by headrests or passengers. The honest downsides are that it takes getting used to, that the screen is a screen rather than glass, and that opinions on it are genuinely split.
Our advice is simple: sit in one and reverse it before you commit to a three year contract. It is not a detail you can judge from a photograph.
The rear seat is the surprise. Legroom and headroom are excellent, and the reclining backrest makes it one of the better cars in the class to be driven in.
It is quick, quiet and rides well. The interior is minimal in the Scandinavian way, which means most functions live in the central screen. If you dislike that approach generally you will dislike it here.
Charging is quick, and if this would be your first electric car it is worth reading our guide to electric car range anxiety alongside electric vehicle charging networks, because the practical experience depends more on charging habits than on the car.
The 4 is ordered in two parts: a powertrain, then a trim. The Plus Pack is standard on every version, which was not always the case.
| Business | Prime | |
|---|---|---|
| Driver assistance | Pilot Assist, lane change assist, park assist pilot | As Business |
| Sound | Standard system | Harman Kardon |
| Head-up display | Not fitted | Yes |
| Rear seats | Standard | Heated, reclining, with their own control screen |
| Seats | Standard adjustment | 12-way adjustable |
| Climate | Standard | Three-zone with PM2.5 filtration |
| Lighting | Standard | Pixel LED with adaptive high beam |
No head-up display and no Harman Kardon on a car at this level surprises people. If you are comparing a Polestar 4 quote against a German rival, check which trim you have been given, because Business and Prime are very different cars to sit in.
The full line-up therefore runs Rear motor Business, Rear motor Prime, Dual motor Business, Dual motor Prime and Dual motor Performance Prime.
| Version | Range, coupe | Braked towing |
|---|---|---|
| Rear motor | 385 miles | 1,500kg |
| Dual motor | 367 miles | 2,000kg |
The Dual motor tows 2,000kg and the Rear motor 1,500kg. If you tow anything substantial, that decides the powertrain for you, and it runs against the usual instinct of taking the single motor for the longer range.
The Performance pack adds adaptive dampers and 22-inch wheels, and costs range in the usual way. Charging is quick on both, at up to 200kW DC for roughly 10 to 80 per cent in about half an hour, with 11kW AC and a heat pump standard.
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Warranty | 3 years or 60,000 miles, including roadside assistance |
| Battery warranty | 8 years or 100,000 miles |
| Maintenance | Free for the first 3 years or 31,250 miles, whichever comes first |
| Insurance groups | 43 Single motor, 48 Dual motor |
Most lease customers either buy a maintenance package or budget for servicing themselves. Polestar covering it for the first three years or 31,250 miles removes that line from the comparison entirely, and it is worth factoring in when you weigh a Polestar 4 against a rival with a maintenance package priced in.
Our guide to car lease maintenance packages explains what a package normally covers, so you can see what you are and are not being given.
Five stars, awarded in July 2025, which is a recent result against a hard protocol.
| Category | Score |
|---|---|
| Adult occupant | 92% |
| Child occupant | 85% |
| Vulnerable road users | 81% |
| Safety assist | 79% |
The Polestar 4 was tested in July 2025, when the coupe was the only body style. The SUV did not appear until September 2026 and has not been tested by Euro NCAP. So if you are looking at the SUV, which we recommend above on range, boot and price, there is no Euro NCAP rating for it yet. It shares its platform with the coupe and Polestar does its own crash testing, but that is not the same thing as an independent result.
We would rather point that out than let a five star badge sit next to a recommendation it does not cover. If an independent rating is essential to you, the coupe is the one that has it.
| Measure | Coupe | SUV |
|---|---|---|
| Seats up | 526 litres | 530 litres |
| Seats folded | 1,536 litres | 1,665 litres |
| Under the bonnet | 15 litres | 15 litres |
The SUV wins on both, and the gap on the folded figure is the meaningful one at 129 litres. The squarer tailgate also handles bulky loads better than the coupe's sloping one, and rear headroom is around 2.5cm better.
The coupe has a 31 litre compartment under the boot floor, which the SUV does not need in the same way. Both frunks are small and take cables rather than luggage.
The decision is unusually clear on this car. The SUV goes further, carries more and costs less than the coupe, so unless you prefer the coupe's shape it is the one to take. The exception is the safety rating, which the coupe has and the SUV does not yet.
Then choose Business or Prime knowingly. Business has no head-up display and no Harman Kardon, which surprises people on a car at this price. And if you tow, the Dual motor's 2,000kg against the Rear motor's 1,500kg decides the powertrain for you.
Three years of maintenance is included, which is worth putting into your comparison against any rival quoted with a maintenance package. Our guide to maintenance packages explains what that normally costs.
If the Polestar is not quite the car, these are the rest of the Polestar range we can price for you.

The SUV on almost every measure. It has longer range, a larger boot and sits lower on price than the coupe. Unless you prefer the coupe's looks, the SUV is the better lease.
Correct. A roof-mounted camera feeds a display where the rear-view mirror would normally be. Most people adapt quickly and some prefer the wider view, but opinions are split, so sit in one and reverse it before signing a three year contract.
Unusually so. Because the roofline does not have to clear a rear window, rear headroom and legroom are among the best in the class, and the reclining backrest makes it a comfortable car to be driven in.
The 4 sits between them. The 2 is the smaller fastback and is now in run-out, the 3 is the larger SUV. The 4 offers most of the 3's space for less money, and more rear room than the 2.
Yes. It is quiet, comfortable and charges quickly, and the SUV version has the longer range of the two body styles. As with any EV the experience depends mostly on whether you can charge at home.
Prime adds Harman Kardon sound, a head-up display, heated reclining rear seats with their own control screen, 12-way adjustable seats, three-zone climate with PM2.5 filtration and Pixel LED headlights. Business has none of those. Both get Pilot Assist, lane change assist, park assist pilot and the Plus Pack, which is now standard across the range.
The Dual motor is rated at 2,000kg braked and the Rear motor at 1,500kg. Towing changes with the powertrain rather than the trim, so if you tow anything substantial it decides which version you take, and that runs against the instinct of choosing the single motor for its longer range.
Maintenance is covered for the first three years or 31,250 miles, whichever comes first. On a three year lease that removes servicing from your cost comparison, which is worth factoring in against a rival quoted with a maintenance package included.
The coupe scored five stars with Euro NCAP in July 2025, with 92% for adult occupant protection, 85% for child occupants, 81% for vulnerable road users and 79% for safety assist. Importantly, that rating covers the coupe. The SUV did not appear until September 2026 and has not been tested by Euro NCAP, so there is no independent rating for it yet.
Not yet. The five star result was awarded in July 2025 when the coupe was the only body style available. The SUV shares the same platform and Polestar carries out its own crash testing, but that is not the same as an independent Euro NCAP result. If a current independent rating is essential to you, the coupe is the body style that has one.
The SUV takes 530 litres with the seats up and 1,665 folded. The coupe takes 526 litres and 1,536 folded, plus a 31 litre compartment under the floor. Both have a 15 litre frunk. The meaningful gap is the 129 litres with the seats down, and the SUV's squarer tailgate handles bulky loads better.
LetsLease is a credit broker rather than the lender. We arrange the agreement and place it with a funder such as Lex Autolease, Novuna, Ayvens or Santander, and that funder owns the vehicle and holds the agreement with you. Because we work across several funders rather than one, we can compare how each prices the same car.
