Why Lease a Maxus T60 MAX?

The T60 MAX is Maxus pitching a proper working pickup at the Ranger and Hilux end of the market, and it arrives with more under the bonnet than you might expect. 215bhp and 500Nm from a 2.0 litre diesel, an eight speed automatic, four wheel drive as standard and a rear differential lock.

It is refreshingly simple to specify, because there is one version. One body, one cab, one engine, one gearbox, one high specification trim. Nothing to decode and no options list to get wrong. Payload is 1,050kg and braked towing is 3,500kg, though there is an important catch in how those two numbers work together and we go into it below rather than leaving you to find out at a weighbridge.

Two figures stand out against the class. 500Nm is a serious amount of torque for a 2.0 litre, and the eight speed automatic is a better box than some considerably more expensive pickups offer. The 1,870mm overall height includes the roof rails, which is worth knowing if you are measuring a garage or a barrier.

Can the Maxus T60 MAX Tow 3,500kg and Carry a Full Load?

No, and we want to be honest with you about it, because every page you will read advertises the 1,050kg payload and the 3,500kg towing next to each other as though both apply at the same time. They do not, and the maths is simple.

The gross train weight is 6,350kg. That is the absolute limit for the truck and the trailer added together, fully loaded. The truck alone is allowed up to 3,250kg. Add a fully laden 3,500kg trailer and you are at 6,750kg, which is 400kg over the limit. So you can tow the full 3,500kg, or you can run at your full payload, but not both at once. With a maximum trailer on the back you have roughly 650kg of payload left in the truck, and that includes passengers.

This is not a fault in the T60 MAX, almost every pickup has a gross train limit that bites before the two headline numbers do. It is just that almost nobody tells you. If you tow a plant trailer or a loaded car transporter and also carry weight, tell us what the trailer actually weighs and what you put in the back, and we will work out whether the figures stack up before you sign rather than after. If they do not, there are alternatives across the wider van leasing range with a higher train weight.

Maxus T60 MAX Tax and VAT for a Business

There are two separate questions here and they are constantly run together, so it is worth separating them.

VAT turns on the payload. A pickup carrying a tonne or more is treated as a commercial vehicle for VAT, and at 1,050kg the T60 MAX clears that threshold, including with a canopy fitted. That is why the payload figure matters beyond what you can physically carry.

Direct tax changed in April 2025. HMRC now treats most double cab pickups as cars rather than vans for benefit in kind and capital allowances, which changes the cost of running one through a business and is a different question from the VAT position above. The detail, the transitional rules and how it lands for your particular situation move with each tax year, so take that from your accountant rather than from a leasing website, including ours. What we will do is tell you plainly which figures on this page are the ones your accountant will ask for. A business lease on a pickup is worth a ten minute conversation with them before you commit to three or four years.

How Safe Is the Maxus T60 MAX?

We cannot tell you, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise. We have not found a Euro NCAP or ANCAP rating for the T60 MAX, so there is no independent crash test result to report. That is not the same as it being unsafe, plenty of commercial vehicles are never submitted for testing, but it does mean that if you are putting an employee in one you are doing so without the independent assessment you would have on a car. If that matters to you, ask us and we will tell you which pickups in the class do carry a current rating.

Maxus T60 MAX Warranty

Five years or 100,000 miles on the vehicle, three years on the paintwork and eight years against corrosion perforation. For a working pickup the mileage cap is the number that matters, and 100,000 miles over five years covers 20,000 a year, so check that against what you actually do. Worth comparing against the Deliver 9 diesel, which carries 125,000 miles, if high mileage is your pattern.

Maxus T60 MAX Leasing FAQs

One. A double cab pickup with a 2.0 litre diesel, an eight speed automatic and four wheel drive, in a single high specification trim. There is nothing to choose between, which makes it unusually simple to order.

1,050kg, against a gross vehicle weight of 3,250kg and a kerb weight of 2,200kg. That clears the one tonne threshold, which matters for the VAT treatment, including with a canopy fitted.

No, and this is worth understanding before you order. The gross train weight is 6,350kg, which is the limit for truck and trailer combined. The truck alone is allowed 3,250kg, so adding a fully laden 3,500kg trailer puts you at 6,750kg, which is 400kg over. With a maximum trailer you have roughly 650kg of payload left in the truck including passengers. Tow the full weight or carry the full load, not both.

3,500kg braked and 750kg unbraked, subject to the gross train weight limit above.

215bhp, which is 158kW, with 500Nm of torque from a 1,996cc Euro 6 diesel. That is a lot of torque for a 2.0 litre engine and more than some larger engined rivals manage.

Yes, an eight speed automatic as standard, along with four wheel drive and a rear differential lock. There is no manual option.

1,485mm long and 1,510mm wide. Overall the truck is 5,395mm long, 1,960mm wide and 1,870mm tall, with that height including the roof rails, which is the figure to check against a garage or a height barrier.

We have not found a Euro NCAP or ANCAP rating for it, so there is no independent crash test result we can report. That is common for commercial vehicles that are never submitted for testing, but it does mean you would be putting a driver in one without the independent assessment you would have on a car. Ask us and we will tell you which pickups in the class do carry a current rating.

Two separate answers. For VAT it is treated as a commercial vehicle because the payload clears one tonne. For direct tax, HMRC changed the treatment of most double cab pickups in April 2025 so they are handled as cars for benefit in kind and capital allowances. The detail moves with each tax year, so take your own position from your accountant.

Five years or 100,000 miles on the vehicle, three years on the paintwork and eight years against corrosion perforation.

LetsLease is a credit broker rather than the lender. We arrange the agreement and place it with a funder such as Lex Autolease, Novuna, Ayvens or Santander, and that funder owns the vehicle and holds the agreement with you. Because we work across several funders rather than one, we can compare how each prices the same pickup.
